Thinking out loud - Reflections

Something to chew on.....
M Scott Peck in his book had commented that he did not think that God is omnipotent because HE endowed us with free will ('developable').
God created the soul. Why would he (or did he) create an evil soul ? "This is not meant to take away the mystery of it all. Indeed, if soul creation, is in fact, an experiment of God's in each and every instance, it then becomes mysterious why there are so very few such obviously failed experiments". Therein lies an even greater mystery, that of human goodness.

So if we are God's experiments, he grows with us. God changes with his people,  moves with the times according to our evolution?  God of the old testament is different from the one in the new.   The Israelites, thousands of years ago, needed a heavy hand as opposed to people of today who respond better to reason because we have evolved, we are more thinking beings than our ancestors

Somehow it makes sense, we are not created perfect and our lives are not perfect either. We each have flaws. We each have free will.

  2. This is so interesting to know that God moves with the times and grows with us, because the God I know has a odd sense of humor. He's cheeky and always there for me. And if this is true, I am glad he is not asking me to be perfect, cos if so I will be such a disappointment. Bless you.

Sure sounds like it doesn't it.. our destinies are what we make of it. But if we are experiments, the models that come out, are they getting better ? Now that's food for thought. TY

It is indeed true...how amazing I never thought of it from this dimension..a whole new perspective...From times when God spoke to Adam and Eve and shared space with em to the times now where man beings have evolved to such an extent that one is not even sure of God's existence...I must say if we are God's experiments then invariably pragmatic fact is that we are created with imperfections....Wow! food for thought...TC:)

  8. Thank you for your comments, I was wondering if anyone was going to cry sacrilege, disagree or had a different p/v. It's not about shaking faith it's just about understanding better.
Oh and Z - .. are we improved models? I doubt it.. I asked for a change of body parts on Gaia's blog earlier.. (haha)lol.

  9. For some reason i cant get a hang on the common belief many can easily accept but for some reason I am cursed to not have that hope /faith/belief what you have posted here but yet i do have plenty of questions to myself rather to others who have the faith of toothfairy. However these sentenses

" So if we are God's experiments, he grows with us. God changes with his people, moves with the times according to our evolution?"

reminds the discussion i had with a friend during a causal sharing of opinion. He just came out of his church and i picked him up for a conversation and asked him what for him the God is all about. He did mention " God or what ever we refer as God is also going through an evolution. It is just that it is on a higher time frame than us Its time frame is so ahead of us that it knows what happening to you and can help you if it hears you. It can help you to change the incidents happening around you but it also goes through its own time frame which it is not aware what next going to happen to it or may know what it is going to go through but cant control what going to happen to it like how we go through our time frame.

His point was God grows and evolves as we do in this plant. I am not sure if he had this idea after reading this book but to my knowledge he doesnt read books but had this idea of god evloving with us.

  10. Hi Known Stranger, your friend certainly has taken it another step further. Interesting because it's very possible and makes sense. The concept of Time as we know it is probably the same as God's. and yes because that means there are even more paths to take, his intervention at our request may not lead us exactly where we want to be. If your friend is Christian, perhaps it was the changes from old to new testament that led your friend to his thoughts. Thanks for sharing.
