Did you see it today,
it rose somewhat hesitant.
Glorious rays seemed penitent,
generous hues slowly unfolding
a deep orange haze yielding.
The morning clouds seemed hungover,
in shadows they were.
Rudely roused from their bower,
they were slow to awaken
to make way for the one, so golden.
A little sparrow eyed me as I watched
waiting for the light and warmth; to be touched.
It moved not from its' bough, a soft tweet,
yet not impatient.
yet not impatient.
I was woken by a whisper you see
to watch creation,
to watch creation,
to witness a sight,
the coming of light.
the coming of light.

Beautiful....hope you are having a wonderful weekend...we have a beautiful blanket of snow.
ReplyDeleteWow this is lovely, one of your best work. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteI live in a city , rarely do we appreciate the sunrise. TY
ReplyDelete'it rose somewhat hesitant.'
ReplyDeleteCall me shallow but every time I see 'somewhat' correctly used instead of the hideous 'kinda' and 'sorta' there's a feeling inside me thatsays that yes, there are still people around who speak and write properly. And the rest of the poem was equally beautiful. Many thanks.
Greetings from London.

ReplyDeleteMy most cherrished moments of sunrises and sunsets are in my hometown on the Florida gulf coast. Oh how I yearn to be there right now. It is snowing and chilly in Cincinnati now.
